A small downtown area is located on NE 2nd Avenue, and Barry University is on the north edge of the village, with interesting shops, an outstanding recreational program, fine schools, and beautiful churches. Many of the 10,000 residents participate in local clubs and organizations that work to insure the continued quality of the community. Local government is responsive to the concerns of both local residents and businesses. Homes, which stretch from Biscayne Bay to roughly Northwest Second Avenue in Northeast Dade, are subject to strict code enforcement, and the police force is known for its vigilance and quick response.
